Rome is competing against the city of Venice to represent Italy. Alemanno said, "Rome or Venice? The Cone (Italian Olympic Committee) does not decide who is more beautiful?" La Repubblica reports Rome's 2020 logo is a red square under a tri-colour flag which appears in a yellow number 2020 and has two elipses with the colours of the Olympic rings. The Mayor said that nearly 90 per cent of Romans welcome the bid and their consent is crucial. He added that the economic impact of such an event is obvious and could lead tourists to the city in the long run as happened in Barcelona. Rome's bid also has the support of the Chamber of Commerce and the Industrial Union of Romany. The Olympic park would be situated north of Rome where 45 per cent of the athletes would be housed. They would also train and compete in the area all within eight minutes of travel time. Also 60 per cent of spectators will be able to move easily to the multiple events, reports APCOM. Palanuoto, designed for the World Swimming Championships in 2009 and never used, would be transformed into a multi purpose structure. According to a survey commissioned by Rome 2020 officials, 75.8 per cent of Rome's citizens are aware of the possible bid and 52.6 per cent of respondents indicate the bid's main advantage would be an increase in tourism, while 66.7 percent said an increase of traffic would be the main disadvantage.
