Tokyo 2020 Bid Should Include Hiroshima, Nagasaki
Tokyo Governor Shintaro Ishihara said Tuesday that Tokyo should allow Hiroshima and Nagasaki to stage some events if the city is selected Japan's candidate city for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.
The Associated Press reports Ishihara told Kyodo News, "if Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Tokyo were all bidding for the Olympics, then Tokyo would probably win. Once Tokyo puts its hat in the international bidding ring then it would be able to get both Hiroshima and Nagasaki involved".
Hiroshima and Nagasaki were ruled out for a joint bid by the Japanese Olympic Committee because the Olympic Charter says that only one city can host the event, reports the Associated Press.
