Joint Hiroshima, Nagasaki Bid Gets 64 Per Cent Support
A nation wide opinion poll that Mainichi Shimbun conducted last weekend regarding a joint bid by Hiroshima and Nagasaki for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games shows that 64 per cent of respondents support the bid, while 31 per cent were against it.
Meanwhile a June opinion poll conducted by Mainichi Shimbun asking about Tokyo's bid for the 2016 Games showed 62 per cent in favour and 29 per cent approval. Tokyo lost its bid for the 2016 Summer Games which will be hosted by Rio de Janeiro.
A joint Hiroshima and Nagasaki bid received some criticism when it was announced.
