Five-Star Hotel Opening Boosts Baku 2020
It's the eighth five-star hotel to open in Baku in the past 12 months, and now the opening of the new Four Seasons Hotel in Baku's waterfront promenade demonstrates that the Azerbaijani capital is fast becoming a world-class destination, according to Baku 2020 bid CEO Konul Nurullayeva.
Nurullayeva said, "the opening of the Four Seasons in Baku, together with the other seven five-star hotel chains that have opened their doors here in the past 12 months, is a clear vote of confidence in Azerbaijan's potential from the world's very top tourism brands. This is also a great boost to our 2020 bid as it backs up many of the ideas and assertions we have put forward in our Applicant File.
Nurullayeva said, "blue chip hotel brands like the Four Seasons do not just invest millions of dollars on a whim. They will have looked very closely at what is happening in Baku today and have come to the firm conclusion that the city is fast turning into a world-class destination - for business, for tourism and for sport - and they have decided that they want to be a part of that spectacular transformation.
"Azerbaijan has one of the fastest growing economies in the world. We are transforming our country, building a knowledge-based economy, focusing on education, sport, science and technology. And it is this transformation that is the driving force behind our bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020".
The new hotel is located in the centre of Baku 2020 Games Plan's Waterfront Cluster, minutes away from the city's main shopping area, and 35 minutes from the airport.
