Dubai Considers 2020 Olympic Bid

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has announced the creation of a working group which will look into the feasibility of Dubai bidding for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.

The working group will be chaired by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Ahmad bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will be the vice chairman.

The feasibility study will be undertaken before further decisions are taken regarding any formal bid to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Falcon and Associates has been mandated to lead the Dubai 2020 project and the working group.

Members of the public will be invited to participate and, according to a statement, more details will be announced in due course.

Dubai will also be undertaking a feasibility study on bidding for the World Expo.
