Mark Worwood of Centrebet, Australia’s leading sports bookmaker, told GamesBids.com that Paris remains Centrebet’s favourite but the media talk that the race is far from over has seen money for the other bids, particularly New York.
Worwood said, “the Big Apple is getting aggressive with its campaigning/marketing, which explains why punters have backed it from 14-1 to 10-1 over the past month. The betting market moves suggest that (London’s Mayor) Ken Livingstone is getting ahead of himself in saying that it will come down to a race between Paris and London”.
He added, “New York City is making ground, and from a distance, looks like it is running the most effective campaign”.
The latest odds from Centrebet are Paris 2-5, London 9-4, New York City 10-1, Madrid 14-1, and Moscow 50-1.
