Your Own Olympic Bid – For A Gmail Address and Charity

I bet your wondering how we could somehow connect the current Gmail craze – the new feature-rich, “by invitation only” email service - with Olympic Bids. Well, we figured it out.

One of the key attractions of getting into Google.com’s Gmail early is the vast availability of desired email names without having to add random digits after it to make it unique. Well GamesBids.com acted quickly and managed to secure 7 great accounts that you’ll quickly recognize - London2012@gmail.com, Madrid2012@gmail.com, NYC2012@gmail.com, Paris2012@gmail.com and our very special email address identifying the next Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2006 – Torino2006@gmail.com. Unfortunately Moscow2012 was not available, some lucky supporter already snapped it up!

We also have PC2014@gmail.com (representing the bid of PyeongChang, Korea – 2nd for 2010) and Tromso2014@gmail.com (Tromso, Norway is preparing a 2014 Winter Games bid).

Now the great news - we’re auctioning off access to these unique Gmail accounts with proceeds to support the Special Olympics. This is your opportunity to get a Gmail account, show everyone which bid you support with an address others will envy, and support a good cause. What aspiring winter-Olympian or fan wouldn’t want to accept emails at Torino2006@gmail.com?

But what would a sports-related promotion be without some kind of competition? Using “Bid-O-Meter” – we’ll track the current bids for each Gmail to see which City’s address is most popular. Many believe Paris is the favorite to host in 2012, but when it comes down to popularity, perhaps New York will win our Gmail bid!

We’d like to extend our thanks to those who graciously donated Gmail invitations (they are only allocated in limited quantities) in response to our request last week. George T., 27, is an IT Professional in Holland, Pennsylvania, USA and told us that he supports New York for 2012 “…mostly because then I might be able to go for once”.

Sam David, 35, is a Web Designer/Developer in Bethesda, Maryland, USA and says she supports London for 2012 because “…it’s time Britain got another opportunity”.

Kristy, a 22-year-old student from Toronto, Canada and Dan Luria, a 15-year-old entrepreneur from CommenceNow.com in South Windsor, Connecticut USA both support New York’s bid. Dan donated three Gmail invitations.

Two other donors wish to remain anonymous.

So don’t wait any longer, visit the eBay auctions through our links and bid on your favorite. Show your friends, our readers and the Special Olympics how much you support your bid!
