Hamburg To Bid For 2016 Games If Leipzig 2012 Loses

Hamburg’s mayor announced that if Leipzig fails to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, Hamburg will throw its hat in the ring for the 2016 Games.

The mayor, speaking to 80 sports groups, said he fully supported Leipzig’s 2012 bid but that Hamburg should be ready to bid for the 2016 Games.

A decision on the 2012 Games will be made in Singapore on July 6, 2005. Write or read comments about this article
