Vancouver 2010 To Share With Queensland 2018 Commonwealth Bid
Vancouver 2010 officials will be sharing details of its preparations with Queensland in its bid for the 2018 Commonwealth Games said Premier Anna Bligh.
Premier Bligh, who is in Vancouver on a trade mission, said after traveling to the Vancouver 2010 athletes village that investing in Games' infrastructure can have long standing gains in terms of looking for potential growth.
She said, "Vancouver raised the bar on the Olympic global stage with its world-leading Winter Olympics infrastructure for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics".
She reportedly explained that the idea of using the athletes village to provide a world-leading sustainable society with its own energy resource was projected at the Queensland Growth Management Summit, and Top News reports she is very interested in how they can make this proposal a reality.
The Premier said the Gold Coast could also study Vancouver's transit system that has had a light rail system since 1985.
She said they can learn from worldwide instances like this to ensure that the Gold Coast fast transport system is second to none, reports Top News.
